Cirque Du Soleil The Musical Tickets for the 2020 Cirque Du Soleil shows are selling out fast!
Cirque du Soleil (French for Circus of the Sun) is more than just a circus; it is one of the world’s biggest theatrical companies performing to packed houses wherever it goes. The company originates from Canada where it was founded in 1984 by former street performers, Gilles Ste-Croix and Guy Laliberté. The early years of touring as a troupe was a time of financial hardship and it wasn’t until the success of Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil in 1984 that the company finally found acclaim. The shows are a fusion of world circus styles, although without the use of animals, and are theatrical performances with a central theme rather than a series of individual acts. From the early 90’s, Cirque du Soleil expanded enormously from a single show to nineteen different entities which toured worldwide generating revenues of over US$800 million. One Cirque du Soleil show is permanently based in Las Vegas playing to audiences of almost 10,000 a night while the other shows tour the world entertaining 90 million people every year. Both entertaining and visually stunning, Cirque du Soleil productions have been recognized with numerous awards including a Rose d’Or, Drama Desk Awards and Gemini Awards on three occasions each, and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as its own star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. As with a traditional circus, Cirque du Soleil normally performs in a big top (grand chapiteau) which is just one of what is a virtual tented village to cater for the cast and crew of almost 5,000. Describing a Cirque du Soleil show is an impossibility as each differs hugely from the next but they are all breathtaking, exciting, extremely visual and a unique experience. The latest touring shows are selling out to packed houses with little chance of extra dates being added due to already full schedules so now is the time to grab a ticket while you can.
